Laho is a quiet, sensitive 5 year old boy living with his brother Benson and their mother and grandfather. They have shelter over their heads but a dirt floor and few possessions. Because Laho’s father passed away, his mother has been ostracised by her community and left care for her sons in quite difficult circumstances. Laho regularly attends our literacy program, often singing and writing his own songs, and Benson is doing extremely well in school. The community have since apologised for ostracizing the family and have acknowledged the experience has greatly taught them about stigma and discrimination.
